What is Mobile Space?
That is a great question, and one with an answer that will most likely change over time. Which is fitting considering how rapidly the internet and mobile landscape is changing as we watch.
So, a better question to answers is: what is Mobile Space right now?
Mobile Space is a shot in the dark. Well, not completely. It is a thoughtful, educated shot in the dark that has been formulated with the help of my mentor and coach Andrea J Lee. In conversation, and later during a coaching session Andrea brought up the future question:
How can small businesses utilize mobile technology in their marketing efforts?
The mobile world is growing in leaps and bounds (I could insert stats for you, but they would be out of date by the time I finished writing this, so I will leave the stats to later posts), and is being used mostly by larger businesses and corporations as a means to get their message out.
Small business mobile seems to be almost non-existent, or at least in the early stages of development. (I could be wrong, and just not found small businesses using mobile yet, more on that later).
Formulating an idea
So, if we know that mobile is growing, and we know that small businesses are always looking for ways to expand their reach and communicate, the question becomes:
how can small businesses use mobile technology to successfully interact with their clients/customers (and of course increase revenue at the same time)?
This is the (current) purpose of Mobile Space: to explore the possibilities of small businesses using mobile technology to improve interactions with prospects, clients, and customers.
How is Mobile Space going to achieve this?
First focus is determining if the mobile space is even viable for small business for “right now use” or if the focus needs to be on “tomorrow use” of this space as it becomes available. To do this the Mobile Space will be firmly rooted in the research phase for the time being: exploring current mobile technology, mobile marketing, mobile content delivery, ethics, etc.
From this research I hope to start painting a picture of what the mobile space looks like right now for small business owners. Once the picture is a bit clearer I hope to help small businesses navigate their “right now use” and “tomorrow use” strategies and actions.
What to expect
No promises on what the answers will be, or if the answers will be helpful to small business owners like you. What I can promise is, if you join the Mobile Space exploration and experimentation process you will have a better understanding of the mobile space and how it can be, or will be, useful to you and your business.
Interested? There are a bunch of different ways you can join in on the fun and see what happens. In order of commitment level:
